Belavia Inaugural Flight Marks New Chapter in Belarus–Thailand Relations

Belavia – Belarusian Airlines has officially launched direct charter flights connecting Minsk, Belarus, with Thailand, reinforcing the growing partnership between the two countries in aviation, tourism, and economic cooperation.

The inaugural flight from Minsk to Pattaya (U-Tapao International Airport) took place on 8 January 2026, followed by the launch of Minsk–Phuket services on 11 January 2026. The first flight operated with a 100% load factor, demonstrating strong demand from the Belarusian market.

Flights to U-Tapao and Phuket will operate once every 10–11 days, with an estimated flight time of approximately 10 hours outbound and around 11 hours on the return journey. Tickets are available as part of travel packages offered by authorized tour operators.

H.E. Mr. Uladzimir Baravikou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam and Thailand, stated that the launch of direct flights is the result of close and multidimensional cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that the route will serve as an important mechanism to promote economic, cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, strengthening ties between Belarus and Thailand.

He highlighted Pattaya as a destination with a unique identity, combining historical value with rich Thai cultural traditions, and expressed confidence that Belarusian travelers will enjoy memorable experiences in Thailand. At the same time, he noted that Thai travelers will have new opportunities to discover Belarus, its history, culture, and distinctive cuisine. The route, he said, will act as a bridge connecting the two nations and symbolize their strong friendship.

Mr. Uladzimir Barkun, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Foreign Economic Affairs of Belavia Airlines, added that long-haul flights to Thailand have been in high demand, driven by strong interest from the Belarusian tourism market. Discussions on direct air services began during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus to Thailand in July 2025.

“The opening of air links with Thailand lays a solid foundation for the future development of this route in our flight schedule,” Mr. Barkun said. “Through our partnerships with leading tour operators, we are able to offer high-quality and comprehensive travel products to our passengers.”

Both sides expressed confidence that following the successful inaugural flight, additional routes and frequencies may be introduced in the future, with the shared goal of transitioning to regular scheduled services and further enhancing connectivity between Belarus and Thailand.
